Impulse and Collisions

(english)

Definition of impulse

Impulse is a force acting on the event object in just a moment. Impulse is an event or operation of force in a very short time. Examples of impulse events are: event like a ball was kicked, hit tennis balls because when kicks and punches, a style that works very brief.

  I=F.Δt

Description:
I = Impulse
F = Force (N)
Δt = time interval (s)

example:

A ball hit with a 50 Newton force with a time of 0.01 second. How much Impus on the ball?

Completion.
By using the above equation

I = F.Δt
I = 50 N. 0.01 s
I = 0.5 Ns

A particle of mass m work force F is constant, then after a time Δt the particle moves with velocity Vt = V0 + a Δt as already discussed in post GLBB (uniformly accelerated motion).

According to Newton's 2nd law:

  F= m . a

With the substitution of the second equation is obtained:

 I = F . Δt = mvt – mv0

Description:
mvt = mementum object when the velocity vt
mv0 = mementum object when the velocity v0

Understanding Collisioncollision is the meeting of two relatively moving objects . In every kind of collision applicable law of conservation of momentum but does not always apply the law of conservation of mechanical energy . Here because some of the energy may be converted into heat by the impact or changes in shape :

Kinds of collisions are:

1 . Perfectly elastic collision , the collision energy unchanged . The coefficient of restitution e = 1
2 . Partially elastic collision , ie collision that do not apply the law of conservation of mechanical energy because some energy is converted to another form , such as heat . The coefficient of restitution 0 < e < 1 .
3 . Inelastic collision , ie collision that do not apply the law of conservation of mechanical energy and the two objects after the collision is attached and move together . The coefficient of restitution e = 0 .

In everyday life , we used to watch the objects collide with each other . Many accidents happen on the highway partly due to collision ( collision ) between the two vehicles , both the motorcycle with a motorcycle , a car with the car and the motorcycle with a car . Similarly, train or other vehicle . Our lives are not separated from the collision . When David Beckham kicked a soccer ball , it also happens when the collision between a soccer ball with the foot Abang Beckham . Without collisions , billiard game will never exist . Likewise, the favorite game of marbles as a kid . There are many other examples that you may encounter in everyday life . In the discussion of momentum and impulse , we have reviewed the relationship between an object's momentum with collision events . Law of Conservation of Momentum that has been reviewed previously also always observed when two objects collide with each other . On this occasion we will study in more depth the impact of events and try to see what physical laws are applicable when objects collide with each other .
